How Using Facebook Helps Me Sell Books

Just like I mentioned in the previous blog, I used to see my author friend Christoph Paul upload mobile phone photos on Facebook. The photos contained folks who bought his books.

I borrowed that idea for myself. First, I used it to sell copies of my poetry book The Butt Freak Blues.

Because it’s a poetry book, one would think I had success selling at poetry readings. Fuck no, I only sold one book at poetry readings. (Shout out to Joe Snyder.) I had more success selling books at DJ nights and bars.

Next, I released my photo and poetry book Three Orlando Nightspots.

The same thing happened, I gained mostly sales in bars and DJ  nights.

Sometimes, I sold books at events.

I even sold one at a house party.

How did this happen? My Facebook friends seeing me constantly uploading pics contributed the most. The more pics I posted, the more folks wanted to buy a book.

Also, when  Bungalower wrote a blog about Three Orlando Nightspots, I posted the blog on Facebook.  Because my Facebook friends saw it, I believe the blog helped sales too.

Instead of relying on sales at poetry events, Facebook postings gained me sales at other venues.

For the record, both books can be purchased on Amazon.

About Patrick Scott Barnes

Most of Central Florida knows Stone Crazy (Patrick Scott Barnes) as a poet. Yet, he also photographs, DJ and blogs. The rest of the time, the now sober blogger guzzles Diet Coke in Central Florida nightspots.
