Tossing Salad

Wonder how long has it been
since I had my salad tossed.
Salad hadn’t been tossed in a long time.
Been too long since I had my salad tossed.

Wonder how many black people
versus white people toss salad.
Wonder where Asians and Latinos
fit into the equation.
How about Native Americans?

Is tossing salad a cultural thing?
An American thing?
An international thing?
Do Europeans toss salad?
How about Africans
and folks in the Middle East?

Wonder if our US forefathers
tossed salad.
Did the pilgrims?
How about the Spanish
when they first landed
on the shores of Florida?

Wonder what’s the origin of tossed salad.
Where did it come from?
Who started it?
How long has it been around?

Have seen the latest videos
dedicated to the subject.

Some involve white women and black men.
Of course, the brothas are the receivers.

Tossed Salad.
Don’t knock it until you try it.

About Patrick Scott Barnes

Most of Central Florida knows Stone Crazy (Patrick Scott Barnes) as a poet. Yet, he also photographs, DJ and blogs. The rest of the time, he's guzzling booze in a Central Florida bar.
